Dealer setup guide

Domain and email setup for switching to TraderWay

Use this guide to connect an existing domain, keep current email safe, create TraderWay mailboxes, or ask a current DMS provider to release a dealer domain.

If you do not have a domain

  1. Choose a dealer domain, for example your dealership name plus .co.uk or .com.
  2. TraderWay can register the domain for you when domain purchasing is enabled.
  3. TraderWay will connect website DNS and create your first 5 GB mailbox.
  4. You can use your TraderWay subdomain while the new domain is being prepared.

If you already own a domain

  1. Enter the domain in TraderWay settings.
  2. Keep the domain at your current registrar if you prefer.
  3. Add only the website DNS records if you want to keep existing email.
  4. Add the mail DNS records only when you choose to move email to TraderWay.

If you already have email

You can keep Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, GoDaddy, Namecheap or another email provider. Do not change MX records unless you are deliberately moving email to TraderWay.

Website DNS and email DNS are separate. Changing a website CNAME does not need to move email.

If your current DMS controls the domain

  1. Ask who legally owns the domain and who controls DNS.
  2. Request the auth/EPP code if you want to transfer the domain.
  3. If transfer is delayed, ask them to update DNS records for you.
  4. Keep your TraderWay subdomain live while waiting for release.

Domain release request
Hi,

We are moving our website and domain setup to TraderWay.

Please confirm who currently owns and controls our domain: [your domain].

If you control the domain, please either transfer it to us and provide the auth/EPP code, or update the DNS records supplied by TraderWay.

Please also confirm whether our email is hosted through you, and whether changing website DNS will affect our email.
